This was stated by Adnan Bernieh, Head of Mission, Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic during a meeting with the President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Riaz Ahmed Tata, held yesterday at Federation House in Karachi.
The meeting was also attended by Vice President FPCCI Engr. M. A. Jabbar, Chairman Pakistan-Syrian Business Council Sajjad Akhtar and Dewan Abdullah Ahmed of Dewan Farooque Motors Limited.
Adnan Bernieh said that arrangements are being made for the visit of Syrian President Bashar Al Asad to Pakistan by the end of this year.
He said that although the Syrian Embassy was following a strict screening system for the issuance of visas to visit Syria due to security reasons, visas will be issued automatically to Pakistani businessmen on the recommendation of FPCCI President.
Riaz Ahmed Tata appreciated the gesture of the Syrian diplomat and assured him that FPCCI will issue visa recommendation letters only to genuine businessmen.
The Syrian diplomat invited Pakistani businessmen for investment in Syrian counterparts in the textile sector. He said that presently businessmen from Cyprus and Egypt were making investments in Syria because of cheap labour and better infrastructure facilities.
